The Programme

The EDI Level 2 Award in the Prevention and Control of Infection will provide learners with an understanding of the causes of infection and how these can be managed and controlled.

The qualification aims to familiarise learners with infection control legislation and policies.Learners will develop an understanding of the methods of cleaning and waste disposal that help prevent the spread of infection, along with the personal protective equipment they can use for their own safety. This knowledge will be underpinned through an increased understanding of the causes of infections, the conditions in which they thrive and the ways that they can be spread.

 

Course Content

To achieve the EDI Level 2 Award you must pass a total of three units.

Unit 1 - The principles of infection prevention and control - 3 Credits

Unit 2 - Causes and spread of infection - 2 Credits 

Unit 3 - Cleaning, decontamination and waste management - 2 Credits
