Funding

Is there an alternative to e Learning Credits?

Could Harnessing Technology Grant be the answer?

What is it?

The Harnessing Technology Grant is the principal source of central government funding for technology in schools. Over £600 million is being distributed through this grant between 2008-11. This is distributed directly from your LEA. You will need to speak to the budget holder within your school to find your exact allocation.

What can it be used for?

The grant is to encourage the use of technology in schools so it covers a range of purchases from complete ICT Infrastructures right down to software and digital curriculum resources.

The Restrictions within this are as follows:

  • Any software must include a site or perpetual license that passes ownership on to the school at the end of it’s service period.

(In other words you don’t have to give the software back at the end of its license.)

  • The Purchase must be regarded as a capital purchases

(for example, if the asset acquired will have a life longer than the financial year in which they were purchased).
